About LaPorte Consulting LLC
LaPorte Consulting was established in 2002 when Mary LaPorte decided to use her many years of agency experience to help other agencies with operations management and deliver quality education for insurance professionals. Mary was joined in 2018 by Lori Heemstra Rummelt in providing operations consulting and education. Using their own experience with E&O (Errors & Omissions), they have also assisted countless agencies in establishing their own internal E&O loss control programs to reduce exposure in this area. Lori’s experience with utilizing systems and streamlining workflows has made her a sought-after resource to agencies. In 2026, Lori became the sole owner of the organization, allowing Mary to focus on other areas related to the insurance industry.

Lori Heemstra Rummelt has over thirty years of experience in the insurance industry, sixteen of which with a large independent agency where she has served as Commercial Lines Manager. Lori possesses strong hands-on proficiency with agency operations, training, development of consistent professional standards and agency errors and omissions (E&O) loss control. She is skilled at optimizing the use of agency technology, particularly Applied’s TAM and Epic systems.
In 2018, Lori joined LaPorte Consulting by providing operations consulting and education. She became the sole owner of the business in 2026. Her experience with utilizing systems and streamlining workflows has made her a sought-after resource.
Lori is an approved instructor for the Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) program and teaches a number of continuing education classes, including those with emphasis on agency management and Errors and Omissions (E&O) loss control. She has earned the professional designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA). She is licensed as an agent in the state of Michigan.
Lori lives in Michigan and enjoys fishing, gardening and boating, along with spending time with her family.
